Hello, I am Sophie
Career: project manager. Parent. An expatriate currently based in Zürich, Switzerland.
Some years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new phase of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't in our long-range plans. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon blossomed into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding— unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Everyday chores seemed more perplexing than necessary.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, uncertainty, and hands-on learning were part of it. Yet, over time, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt solid.
Why I Built Soft Dawn Compass
Most online guidance fell into corporate relocation advice or superficial travel material. What was absent was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap—with practical guidance drawn from real life in Switzerland.
